Orange Coast College is in Deep Association with Rowing and Grabs Many Achievements

Orange Coast College in Orange County, California, encourages rowing with excellent coaching facilities and support since the college established. It has paid well, and the OCC rowing team has won the 12th men’s national title recently beating many prominent 4-year degree universities.

Rowing, one of the purest amateur sports, targeting the overall physical and mental health and well-being, and that is the reason the community college is giving importance to the sport.

Additionally, it displays unity, a ballet of power, and grace, and per Daniel Amado, the captain of the team, the sport gives the strength to overcome any hurdle in life. Every member of the team has an immense passion towards the sport, and that plays a significant role in creating records and winning titles in water.

The rowing team of the college follows a strict schedule, and their day starts with a practice at 6:30 a.m. sharp in Newport Harbor. The school has some significant achievements as its ten students participated in events like Olympics and world championships in the past. Since the national title established 60 years back, it could grab the title one-fifth times of the total number of championships. Every year almost 80 male students register for the sport while women’s team gets around 40. With up to 20 hours rigorous training, they become fit for championships, though half of the members drop away by the end of the season.

The Orange Coast College was founded in 1947, and it offers two-year associate degrees in arts and science subjects. With consistent and high-quality education, OCC grew as one of the finest and largest community colleges in the country. It gets at least 25,000 new students in each semester. The college gives greater importance to technology and offers more than 135 career and academic programs.

OCC also encourages other sports and games such as volleyball, baseball, basketball, golf, soccer, track and field, cross country, tennis, and more. It is on top of the list of total transfers to the California State University and the University of California systems. OCC has active clubs and involved Associated Student Body in addressing the concerns and requirements of the students. The college is accredited by the commission for community colleges called WASC.
