Disney has recently announced the third addition to their smash-hit video game series Disney Infinity. Right in time for the new Star Wars film, The Force Awakens, the company will be launching Disney Infinity 3.0 with a wide range of Star Wars characters. Disney Acquired the rights to Star Wars and they have managed to market the famous sci-fi series extremely well in between movies. Although Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith was released nearly 10 years ago in 2005, Disney has managed to keep the attention of Star Wars fans with their animated series that revolves around the same time period of episodes one through three.
Folks like Igor Cornelsen (chicagobooth.edu) have learned that Disney Infinity revolutionized the video game experience by mixing action figures with video games. When someone purchases the starter pack for Disney Infinity, it comes with a platform, action figures and a game disk that all work together. Players are able to put different characters on the platform and also mix and match the characters in the toy box. Players can also create their own custom levels and mini games to share with the online community.
With Disney and Marvel Cinematic Universe launching movies like The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Inside Out and Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens all in the same year, it’s anticipated for Disney Infinity 3.0 to be a big hit. The new characters expected for 3.0 include Star Wars characters from episodes one through six, as well as characters from Age of Ultron and the new animated film Inside Out.
